Our bodies might lack energy for us to function due to many different things: sleep deprivation, busy work schedule, irresponsible lifestyle, stress, various illnesses, and mental health issues, such as anxiety or depression, etc. What’s interesting is that long periods of laziness can also lead to extreme exhaustion!

You don’t need to have a medical degree to notice and recognize some of the effects of tiredness. Fatigue affects our skin as dark circles appear under eyes, skin becomes soggy, losses its elasticity and shininess, and we get cracked lips. Other time-proven relaxation methods include visualization and muscle loosening exercises. The latter requires tightening and relaxing all one’s body muscles; it lowers blood pressure levels and reduces the body’s need for oxygen, thus reducing anxiety and fatigue. 

Visualization is all about positive and relaxing thoughts going through one’s mind; it encourages the person to focus on the details and enhances overall concentration. Such a weird and strange word. Quarantine. it is interesting enough that the definition and the word quarantine itself was first created in Venice, Italy in 1100’s and used just for a couple of times. Knowing nowadays situation, this fact is tremendously scary. Seems like the history itself is making a joke out of this invention. Maybe it would be better if there was no such word at all?

In this article we will talk about how the quarantine has affected our daily life and we will give you suggestions of how to cope with this situation that might have brought you a lot of anxiety, stress, and sleepless nights.

Today's current situation has tremendously changed the lives of many people. Today the quarantine is an international and unfortunately, very well-known definition, as most recently it has been used in the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak. In such weird times it is understandable if for some people it already sounds like a death sentence, while for others it has a different personal meaning.

For some of us it's great - a lesser part of introverted, artistic people might be happy being at home having their time to do what they want… at last! While some of us take the time-off at home as a satisfying experience full of entertainment, books, and undiscovered talents in the kitchen whilst cooking new recipes, but for many of us quarantine feels especially stressful. Separation from loved ones, loss of freedom, loss of control, uncertainty over disease status and boredom can create dramatic effects. You may experience symptoms that can be easily identified as medical, psychological conditions: anxiety, depression, insomnia, isolation, compulsion, etc. All these ,,quarantine symptoms’’ are the result of this crucial, unnatural situation. It is extreme and unknown, therefore a lot of uncertainty arises in the eyes of great amount of people.

A recent research was made in Knox College, Illinois, where a psychologist, Frank McAndrew, stated clearly:

,,The enforced quarantine is particularly distressing. Being isolated gives one a sense of being at the mercy of other people and other uncontrollable forces such as an epidemic. This leads to a feeling of helplessness and uncertainty about the future that can be very unsettling”

And that is a fact… It is horrifying that a big part of society feels this way. The most important thing is to not be afraid and to look for ways that would help you or your loved one, your family, and friends.

In 2020 March, research by PhDr. Štěpán Vymětal was carried out to find out what techniques could help us find that needed balance and peace of mind during the quarantine. It states that there are some crucial factors:

It all concludes that making our way of living healthy, is the most important factor. During a time like this (i.e. quarantine), all the factors listed above might be hard to achieve without any additional or external help. Nevertheless, there are many helpful course-of-actions that can be found to ease your daily routine tremendously.
