Tips and Lists for National Lockdown? Yes – Do Not Stress!

Oh no… Did it really happen one more time?! Quarantine has again decided to visit us. Now we have to sit at home between the four walls and survive national lockdown’s arrival for as long as it takes. Such a situation forces us to cut all unnecessary social contacts with other people and watch the world safely from our home window. As even the least significant unpleasant situations and twists and turns make us feel irritated, such a routine can make everyone go crazy very fast. It’s a responsible thing to stay at home; however, stress does not add health to our organisms. We love each Biomedicanna friend very much and do not want them to feel stressed, be unhappy, or get sick – we have prepared you a list of seven great ways to spend time at home, which will make you forget about the Coronavirus pandemic and stress at all!

Tip No. 1 – Greet Mornings with Exercise

Getting up in the morning to go to work is hard. In the face of a pandemic, getting up in the morning and then working from home is even more difficult as few steps away, your cosy and fluffy bed waits for you come back. It’s time to wake up! Start each stress-free quarantine morning with an exercise lasting at least a few minutes – stretch stiff muscles, reach the toes with your fingers, do a few push-ups and sit-ups, or jump into pants while listening to your favourite song! Every type of exercise works as long as you are doing it right. Our team advises you to spend some time researching the internet before planning your work-out regime. There are many videos of experienced trainers showing every exercise and explaining its benefits to your body. In case of not so much determination to exercise on your own, find online sports communities, register for live work-out broadcasts, and start shaping your body for after the quarantine now! We cannot imagine our mornings with meditation, yoga, and Pilates!

Tip No. 2 – Have a Healthy Smoothie Afterwards

Sports can be exhausting sometimes; therefore, after the morning workout, you must reward your body with a healthy and tasty breakfast. We all know stories about what foods and dishes do professional athletes eat daily, but let’s admit some of those recipes are pretty strange and require exquisite cooking skills. Nevertheless, there is one thing that neither ordinary people nor top-level athletes give up – it’s healthy green cocktails and smoothies! Such drinks are often thought about as energy and vitamin bombs – mix every type of vegetables, fruits, and berries in the blender and enjoy a tasty beginning of the day. Search the internet again, and there you will definitely find many delicious, quick, and easy recipes. We at Biomedicanna advise you to add a few drops of natural and organic CBD Oil into your everyday smoothie to make it even healthier – regular use of CBD helps lower the levels of anxiety and depression, relieve stress, and boost the immune system. Besides, our best smoothie mix contains frozen bananas, mangoes, cherries, peaches, oatmeal, almond milk, and – of course – CBD Oil Drops!

Tip No. 3 – Play a Little Game with Your Mind

It is easy to immerse yourself in the daily worries when all days of the quarantine feel the same. Medical researchers found out that long periods of nowhere to go, no one to talk to, and nothing to do harms our mental health and makes us lose our social skills – we are becoming less and less exciting and happy, dark, and sad thoughts become our daily friends. In case this happens, you need to banish such thoughts out of your brain and occupy your mind with intellectual games and activities instead. We are best in giving fun and joyful bits of advice – invite your quarantine friend to play some board and card games, do puzzles, or crosswords! Mentioned activities reinforce connections between our brain cells, improves thinking speed, and helps protect the brain from aging up. In general, games such as chess, Scrabble, Monopoly, Risk, Cluedo, Uno cards, or even charades and Pictionary keeps our bodies and minds young by making them work harder than ever!

Tip No. 4 – Grab a Book in Your Hands

A national lockdown has actually saved you loads of time without having to commute to work every day; however, it’s up to you how you will spend them. We advise you to spend some free time with books in your hands - quarantine is the perfect time to actually finish at least several books from your reading list. Reading allows us to instantly travel to different cities and continents, the future and past; those pages makes us fall in love with some characters and envy the others. Most importantly, books keep us busy, and let’s forget about life with a dangerous pandemic right beside. If reading a book is not for you, maybe listening for one is? We advise you to try list audiobooks or various podcasts, which encourages multitasking and fill our heads with more exciting thoughts than doing dishes, laundry, or hoovering the carpets. In our home libraries, you may find some of the best-written works including, To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, The Catcher in the Rye by Jerome Salinger, and many more – start your reading journey to stress-free quarantine with three masterpieces!

Tip No. 5 – Pamper Yourself with Love and Self-care

Quarantine is a tough opponent to fight against; therefore, we have to be the best versions of ourselves. Even if you may not need to meet with other people at this time, you should not neglect the way your skin, hair, and overall body looks. Spending an entire lockdown dressed in comfortable pyjamas is nice but, at the same time, is very unproductive. It is especially important to find a bit of time every day to be in peace with yourself. Self-care is a real stress-relieving deal, which usually includes a foamy hot bath, homemade body scrubs, fancy serums, expensive masks, and a glass of your favourite drink! Here at Biomedicanna, we love our teammates and friends as much as ourselves. We advise you to enrich your everyday self-love rituals with natural essences and oils, organic cosmetics , and eco-friendly solutions as caring for your wellness must not hurt Mother Earth.

Tip No. 6 – Have a Movie After Dinner

Like a cherry on the cake, yet another quarantine day must end with a good movie. Decorating your home to remind at least a bit of a movie theatre and ensuring all necessary snacks are in place protect us all from the stress and makes us doubt quarantine really happening. However, we are quickly brought back into reality as the time comes to choose what we will be watching today. Internet movie platforms and streaming services have a variety of blockbusters to offer, so our job is to make this process easier. We advise you to spend quarantine watching real classics – The Shawshank Redemption, The Godfather, Schindler’s List, or Forest Gump. Yes, these four movies can make you cry and even more stressful than lockdown has made you already, so let’s watch some comedy movies instead. Turn your TV’s on for Life Is Beautiful, Untouchable, Amelie, or one of the newest hits, Parasite – we recommend only the best!

Tip No. 7 – Binge-watch TV Series

Let’s face it - one movie may sometimes be not enough for true cinema lovers. However, one night in the quarantine may be just enough to finish an entire season of a really great TV series. We are guilty of choosing to have several sleepless nights and watching new episodes of our favourite shows instead, too. Taking us to mythical lands, showing us how to fight against dragons and go to planets far away, some of the best TV series will take more than several nights to finish. We personally love Game of Thrones, Suits, Stranger Things, The Big Bang Theory, and, of course, legendary sitcom Friends! Real and sincere laughter, best actors, and unexpected turns of events are what you need for a fun quarantine experience and levels of stress dropping down in the blink of an eye.

Seven tips in one day can be too much if you have a busy schedule, have to work, or study for the larger part of your average quarantine day. We advise you to try at least advice every day of the week – stay safe, healthy, and stress-free!

Quarantine? Not again! or How Not to Die from Boredom?

Another wave of serious virus rolls through the world and threatens us with a chance of quarantine repeating. The world stops just for us to be safe and healthy, and we must comfortably play our parts of not going to work or social events while having a runny nose. It means working from home and limiting contact with other people to a very minimum. I know, staying closed between the four walls might as quickly drive us crazy as it might force us to die from boredom. How to survive quarantine? It’s simple – follow the tips and tricks we have prepared for you to promote self-care and keep you clear-headed!

Becoming a Book Worm

Let’s admit the fact that some books have been on your reading list for far too long, so quarantine is the perfect time to check off several of them at least. However, it’s also okay not to have such a list or your favourite book. If you are not sure about what genre of books you like, let’s start with some classics. For example, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s ‘Great Gatsby’ will take you back to the roaring twenties where a man desires to reunite with his long-lost love. In the case of a story with a hint of historical spices, choose L. Tolstoy’s ‘War and Peace.’ As you will find this next book at the top of the lists of greatest books of all time, it is worth reading for everyone. J. K. Rowling’s ‘Harry Potter’ is meant not only for kids as everyone may interpret the magic world in his very own way. Books will surely help you to distract thoughts from quarantine!

Tasty Quarantine

Quarantine is also the best time to open different types of books – cooking books! Spending some time in the kitchen cooking can be truly rewarding as you only need some creativity to become the best chef. Ordering home delivery food every day will quickly max out your credit cards, and we’re not even talking about delivered food being cold already. It’s more fun to tie around your apron and roll your sleeves up rather than ordering meals. Believe us - you have every ingredient you might need to make the best meal of your life. In the case of an empty fridge or pantry, you can always count on grocery delivery services available in the biggest cities. However, if you are more of an eater than a chef, we advise you to turn on the TV and watch culinary shows – it’s just a bit sad that TV cannot convey nose-tingling pleasant cooking smells yet!

Unleash Creativity

Quarantine has stopped your complaints about not having enough free time to coming back to your favourite hobbies. It does not matter whether you like painting or playing the violin, whether you enjoy doing puzzles or sewing new pieces of clothing from second-hand materials. Creativity is the only thing you need once you have tons of free time on your hands to spend on what you love the most. Doing arts and crafts is a perfect way to distract yourself not only from depressing quarantine routines but also from stress at work and sleep deprivation, which haunts us when hitting those office deadlines. We encourage you to try out hobbies that you have never tried before – learn haiku, start making flower arrangements, photoshopping, or talking backward - your ideas are not crazy, they are brilliant! Well, just in case hobbies do not work, try using CBD oil to lower stress levels and concentrate better.

It’s Popcorn Time!

The time flies by when we are watching our favourite movies and TV shows. As quarantine awards you with plenty of time for binge-watching the newest comedy or drama series, allow us to share a list of Emmy Award winners that will make you think only about another episode and nothing else in this world! ‘Schitt’s Creek,’ a comedy about a filthy-rich family turning broke, will make you laugh uncontrollably while ‘Succession’ will offer you many surprising plot twists as the story surrounds the media empire owners the Roy family. Even though such TV series as ‘The Good Place,’ ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine,’ ‘Killing Eve,’ or incredibly famous and successful ‘Stranger things’ have not won in the most important Emmy categories this year, they are still worthy of your attention, tears, and guesses of what will happen next. Make sure you have plenty of snacks ready to get you through numbers of episodes, seasons, and shows!

Let’s Adult – Time to Clean

No one likes cleaning dust, hoovering the carpets, or doing dishes in everyday life, but in quarantine, even these chores help pass the time. In reality, it is not that hard to make cleaning more fun – try turning your favourite music up and dancing while you clean those nasty spider webs you’ve been ignoring for ages. Dedicate your quarantine for tidying up the closet as this activity is as practical as it is promoting self-love – you will see all of the clothes that you have and feel good about yourself for achieving it at the same time! Many scientific studies have confirmed that a clean and fresh environment helps us concentrate and encourages better moods. If every corner in your home is now clean, but you still have not reached the peace with yourself, considering trying CBD products as they are a great addition to everyone’s well-being and overall health.

Stay Fit

Quarantine made the majority of us fail our daily move, and step goals as being closed between the four walls mean low activity. Expensive gym memberships will not remotely make your body fit, so it’s only up to you to stay in great shape. Even the morning exercises such as yoga or Pilates will help you highlight the muscles and ensure good health. A healthy and balanced diet also contributes to achieving even better results, which would not be able with exercises only. One of the best being fit trends is green cocktails in which you mix fresh fruits and vegetables. As they are called real energy bombs, cocktails contain a lot of additional supplements and vitamins, including CBD products, which improve the immune system and free you from fatigue after heavy training sessions. Be careful – some types of sports and exercising can do more harm to your body than good, so make sure you find the best way of staying fit!

Conquer the quarantine with these tips and tricks to truly enjoy the long periods at home. Knowing your physical and mental needs is a huge help when planning different indoor activities. Besides all of these boredom hacks, let’s not forget to spend quality time with the ones quarantining together.

1 word 10 letters, -Quarantine…

“Do. Or do not. There is no try.” — Yoda

Such a weird and strange word. Quarantine. it is interesting enough that the definition and the word quarantine itself was first created in Venice, Italy in 1100’s and used just for a couple of times. Knowing nowadays situation, this fact is tremendously scary. Seems like the history itself is making a joke out of this invention. Maybe it would be better if there was no such word at all?

In this article we will talk about how the quarantine has affected our daily life and we will give you suggestions of how to cope with this situation that might have brought you a lot of anxiety, stress, and sleepless nights.

Today's current situation has tremendously changed the lives of many people. Today the quarantine is an international and unfortunately, very well-known definition, as most recently it has been used in the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak. In such weird times it is understandable if for some people it already sounds like a death sentence, while for others it has a different personal meaning.

For some of us it's great - a lesser part of introverted, artistic people might be happy being at home having their time to do what they want… at last! While some of us take the time-off at home as a satisfying experience full of entertainment, books, and undiscovered talents in the kitchen whilst cooking new recipes, but for many of us quarantine feels especially stressful. Separation from loved ones, loss of freedom, loss of control, uncertainty over disease status and boredom can create dramatic effects. You may experience symptoms that can be easily identified as medical, psychological conditions: anxiety, depression, insomnia, isolation, compulsion, etc. All these ,,quarantine symptoms’’ are the result of this crucial, unnatural situation. It is extreme and unknown, therefore a lot of uncertainty arises in the eyes of great amount of people.

A recent research was made in Knox College, Illinois, where a psychologist, Frank McAndrew, stated clearly:

,,The enforced quarantine is particularly distressing. Being isolated gives one a sense of being at the mercy of other people and other uncontrollable forces such as an epidemic. This leads to a feeling of helplessness and uncertainty about the future that can be very unsettling”

And that is a fact… It is horrifying that a big part of society feels this way. The most important thing is to not be afraid and to look for ways that would help you or your loved one, your family, and friends.

In 2020 March, research by PhDr. Štěpán Vymětal was carried out to find out what techniques could help us find that needed balance and peace of mind during the quarantine. It states that there are some crucial factors:

  1. Planning and structuring your day, rational focus, and regime
  2. Being active (It sounds funny and rather controversial when being in isolation, but e.g.solving Sudoku is also an activity)
  3. Promoting good interpersonal relationships
  4. Healthy lifestyle
  5. Relaxation
  6. Positive thinking and calming down

It all concludes that making our way of living healthy, is the most important factor. During a time like this (i.e. quarantine), all the factors listed above might be hard to achieve without any additional or external help. Nevertheless, there are many helpful course-of-actions that can be found to ease your daily routine tremendously.

If you are stressed and anxious and have any doubts in terms of quarantine survival; if it has been an experience, full of anxiety and sleepless nights, you can help yourself and get the immunity for it. Among the bubble baths, Dalai Lama podcasts, yoga practice and meditation, one particular remedy used as an essential ingredient in your daily life might help you deal with this whole situation. A recently found, rapidly getting popular, and a must-have component – Cannabidiol.

Cannabidiol, in other words CBD, is one of 80 important active elements that are found in cannabis plant. It does not make you ‘’high’’ because it's extracted from the hemp plant, moreover it can easily be separated from the THC (psychoactive) compound. It has a full range of good qualities: it helps reducing pain and inflammation, managing insomnia, decreasing effects of anxiety, as well as preventing seizures.

One of the studies in 2010 found that cannabidiol could reduce symptoms of anxiety and stress. Brain scans of participants revealed changes in blood flow to the regions of the brain linked to anxiety. In this study, cannabidiol not only made participants feel better, but also changed the way their brains responded to anxiety.

If you or your relatives struggle with insomnia, CBD could be the right choice. It interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system. This system helps to regulate the most important processes in your life e.g. sleep patterns and appetite. If you suffer from insomnia, CBD can be an important and helpful part of your bedtime routine. Before taking sleeping aids, consider that medication may not be the answer, because most of the time, it's addictive in itself. In comparison to medications, CBD oil is a clever solution, as it has no intoxicating and addictive properties.

Another research in 2015 concluded that CBD oil is a promising treatment for numerous forms of anxiety: social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. So, if your sleep problems are linked to anxiety and depression, CBD can be especially helpful and effective. Most importantly, CBD oil is extracted and filtered to make it pure and natural, by keeping all its benefits and raw materials.

The quarantine is the price we need to pay to live our normal daily lives later on. It's true, we cannot change what is beyond our control, but we can change ourselves and our perception of the situation. We might be feeling anxious, depressed, or even grumpy at times, but we can set up a to-
do-list from now on, learn a new recipe, and as Yoda says: ,,Do or Do Not’’, - if needed, do look for help. Do try the CBD oil because in the times like these, it is always clever to look for remedies that can help you feel better. And remember, we always have a full variety of activities to do and wonderful things to achieve and create. Now, we are given the best and most valuable thing in life, which is called Time. Let us use it and make the most out of it!
