New Year, New Skin – Leave Bad Skincare Routine in 2020!

New year, new life! - sounds like a perfect New Year’s resolution and, yet the chances to accomplish it are at all a time low. We now have been under quarantine restrictions for almost a year, thus our lives are limited within the scope of four walls. Of course, national lockdown does have some advantages – more time for us, and for the family, time for our hobbies and new things, new pets and new tasty home-made dishes, etc. On the other hand, we haven’t seen our friends eye-to-eye for a long time, we had to celebrate the biggest celebrations alone, and some people even lost their jobs due to the ongoing pandemic.

The situation is far from perfect, and the worst thing that it does not come alone – it brought us depression, anxiety, and overall sadness… Forced closure changes not only our souls but also our appearance, and, sadly, our sensitive skin suffers the most. How can we improve our skin’s wellbeing and overall beauty? What methods work best to recover damaged and irritated skin?

Skin’s Secrets – Things You Did and Didn’t Know Before

Skin is no doubt the most exposed organ of our bodies – and the biggest as well! Around two square meters of flesh performs several functions: it protects us and our internal parts from physical threats, thus acting as an immunity shield; it regulates the internal temperature and cools the body by protecting it against overheating; it allows us to sense everything around us by containing a sizable network of nerve cells. Significant skin functions evolved so that humans – and animals – could fully function in an unpredictable world. Speaking of evolution, it did not spare our skin change - modern human predecessors are known to be covered in hair from head to toe. Now, enough though our whole skin surface is still covered with hairs, some are very tiny and almost invisible for a naked eye – hair eventually started to lose its heating need as the climate got warmer.

Despite the weather and climate conditions, each skin deserved proper care, and while there are several different skin types, their all have their traits and needs. For example, a normal skin type is the easiest to take care of as the skin is neither dry nor oily, and the surface is smooth. On the other hand, people with oily skin type are a few times more likely to get pimples and blackheads, thus needing special cleansers and toners to reduce skin’s greasiness. Dry skin is flaky, yet the pores are barely visible; however, this does not protect the skin from various irritations, and such skin type is often associated with redness and blushes. Combination skin type has both dry and oily skin types traits, so, usually, people with such skin type have to use numerous products every day to treat different skin areas.

What My Skin Does and Doesn’t Like?

This question is easy and tricky to answer both at the same time. To make things more understandable, we should think of skin as a mirror, which exposes our good and bad habits – skin will lose its elasticity after years of smoking, and it will look younger when drinking loads of water and eating healthy foods. It may sound like skin kind of loves stability as it should eventually get used to the usual routine. However, any skin type hates things that last for too long, especially an unsuitable environment.

We intentionally first talked about the lockdown and being at home for long periods because dry indoor air, heating, and wintertime are skin’s worst enemies. Cold season suggests temperature fluctuations when it comes to outside and inside – our skin experience severe stress as a result and may show negative symptoms such as irritation, redness, dryness, or rash. Moreover, a cold period means warm yet dry premises – when surrounding air lacks humidity, skin starts to dry out as well; this usually leads to skin flaking, painful cracks, and chapped lips, various allergies.

Besides, we tend to associate the pandemic lockdown with tiredness and laziness – for this reason, we do not want to do anything and abandon ourselves both internally and externally. At first, we are several times more likely to order fast-food than to cook ourselves, and this habit leads to consuming large amounts of calories and nowhere to use them. Worthless nutrients accumulate in our bodies and eventually penetrate the surface of the skin in a form of painful acne and blackheads. Secondly, with nowhere to go, we tend to spend our days in comfortable pyjamas without washing our hair and, of course, without taking proper care of our skin. Even though we encourage everyone to stay natural, it’s not great to leave our skin alone in the fight for its beauty. The abandonment of our usual skincare routines occurred around the same time last year, and such a long period of neglected skin can often be the cause of various rashes, allergies, irritation, etc.

How I Can Help My Lovely Skin Recover?

We would not surprise anyone by saying that the first thing that leads to nice skin is proper hydration – drink enough water regularly no matter it is a lockdown or not. One of the most obvious ways to treat dry skin is to cover it with a protective layer. Extra-rich face and body cream work really well:

We encourage you to try cream with full-spectrum CBD that is safe for all skin types, gently pampers skin, ensures its nutrition and revitalization, and provide excellent antioxidant protection!

If you want something more than just a cream to help your skin recover from the lockdown and regain its beauty, try using air humidifiers and long-lasting masks. While the previous will help you maintain the optimal level of indoor humidity, the latter will help your skin absorb all the necessary materials and lock them inside of your skin ensuring the best possible result! Of course, you are more than just two square meters of skin – the lockdown is no reason to forget to take good care of your hair, nails, and, most importantly, the soul. Since there is a lot of free time left under quarantine conditions, spend it wisely: eat quality food and avoid sugary sweets (stay tuned for our newest product!), get regular sleep, if possible, take a walk outside in the fresh air, devote time to your hobbies and self-care.

The skin needs to be cared for in various ways, yet the best way is to combine internal and external skincare. Since appearance is the best business card for each of us, skin also shows how you feel deep inside – make sure you feel amazing!

To Exercise Is to Be Healthy!

Which of the following you will be choosing this year – to eat everything tasty off from the Christmas table, or to sit hungry in the corner and watch as your family eats the most mouth-watering meals? We proudly answer – eat everything that your mother and grandma have made and start body-shaping activities only after Happy New Year fireworks! Summer is more than five months away, but such a time is more than enough to reach impressive results – even if it means turning your own home into a private gym space. Here at Biomedicanna, we made a promise to help you live as healthy as possible, so let’s start this journey to a healthy life with a quick guide to exercising and sports!

Why is Sport Always Compared to Health?

Well-being depends on many things, but we often hear people saying that sport is health, sport is long life, sport is happiness. Therefore, we have no doubt you have been wondering whether such claims are justified or not? They are actually true, as regular exercising and playing sports is linked to inducing happier thoughts. Besides positive emotions, sport and everyday workouts improve overall health conditions, strengthen the heart, lungs, blood circulatory system, etc.

Exercising is also the best way to clear the mind and improve mental health. Numerous researches all come with the same results as various sports activities reduce stress and lower the levels of depression and anxiety. Even though the next benefits of sports are not quite related to improving health, sports do come useful in other aspects of life. It is invaluable in building confidence, learning how to leadership (we are talking about team sports, of course); it helps gain new connections, find friends, and keep those relationships stronger than ever!

Can Sports Hurt You?

The previous paragraph can give the impression that sports are everything you could ever need – as the list of benefits of exercising can go on and on, let’s throw some warnings into the mix. Indeed, regular sports activities are necessary, yet improper preparation can cause considerable problems that will quickly force everyone to give up sports for good.

First of all, warm-up before any serious exercises and workouts as light stretches will help you un-stiff your muscles and joints. Even if it may seem that warm-up is for dummies only, not believing the importance of warm-up can cost lives – imagine someone going for a swim, and suddenly they get a leg cramp. Lucky you, you can find the perfect product in our shop, which will help you to take care of your sore and overworked after-work-out muscles and joints, relieve inflammation, and reduce tension.

Not only warm-up activities help to achieve successful results but also appropriate sports clothing. Before going on a shopping spree, make sure you know how exactly you are planning to exercise. Clothing items and shoes meant for trail running in the fresh air will not fit your exercise plan at home; besides, different weather conditions require special clothing items as well. At this point, choose wisely, do not hesitate to invest a bit more, and consult with professionals!

Is it True that Sports Mean Eating Less?

Whoever told this nonsense should not be in anyone’s field of attention. The truth is that sports and exercising require loads of energy, and the only way to acquire it is through eating foods. There is a saying stating that you are what you eat – when targeting for that perfect Summer beach body, eat and drink healthy, leave fast food and sweets for others.

Professional dietitians and well-being coaches can help you create an easy-to-follow diet plan, which will guarantee outstanding results and model-like body shape. If calling for help is not acceptable, neither for you nor your wallet, we are ready to share some healthy eating tips and tricks. First of all, do not miss breakfast as it is the most important meal of the day; secondly, hydrate your body and drink loads of water; thirdly – do not eat for at least two to three hours before going to bed as your body needs to digest the food. And one more tip especially for you – after a tiring work-out, reward yourself with a vegetable, fruit, and berry cocktail; mix in several drops of CBD oil in your drink and enjoy overall health!

Tips to Exercise at Home? Yes, please!

You cannot imagine how happy we are when sharing tips and tricks – we have also prepared a shortlist of exercises and sport-related activities, which anyone can perform in their living room or the fresh air! Don't worry - you will not need any of that fancy equipment, which you can see in every professional gym.

Morning exercise. As getting up in the morning is starting to remind every of Mission: Impossible movies, a light stretch in the morning can make those sleepy minds go away. Start your exercise by moving hand and leg joints in circular motions, then continue with greeting the sun and trying to reach your toes without bending your back. Later perform several jumping jacks, leg squats, sit-ups, and push-ups. As you might want to strengthen your whole body, use full food jars ar any other heave items as dumbbells, which will make the usual front and side lunges a bit harder, yet more effective. Repeating mentioned exercises regularly will definitely fill your mornings with delight and allow you to enjoy positive day.

Yoga (and meditation). Although yoga and meditation cannot be called sports, yet they are very popular all around the world – so if you are looking for a calm and peaceful way to exercise, search no more! Firstly, found a comfortable and well-lit place at your home to perform the mentioned activities; besides, we advise you to light candles and incense and play soft and relaxing music to help you concentrate. Yoga and meditation are all about uniting the body with a person’s mind to maintain a healthy relationship on physical, mental, and spiritual levels. Researchers and yoga practitioners say that such activities increase body awareness, relieve stress, and guarantee overall health as they combine four different practices into one – movements, breathing, meditation, and relaxation.

Online work-out. If you find it hard to stick to your goals and sports routine, opt-out for online group workouts with professional trainers! Choose the one that fits you and your needs the best – choose to powerfully exercise two or three times a week; choose morning or evening workouts or do a little exercise while you are on a lunch break from work; choose Pilates, gymnastics, or functional exercises with rubber tension belts. The possibilities here are endless as your perfect sport session is only a mouse click away from you! Of course, everyone has to pay for such a luxury, yet online workouts are the closest you can get to exercise in a professional gym during national lockdowns.

Running or Nordic walking. There is a saying that running is the best way to forget everything, concentrate, and shape one’s body for the better all at the same time, yet, technically, these types of exercises are not fit for performing them at home. However, find a perfect and picturesque route near your home and regularly train your whole body for no charge at all. Almost – you will need special sticks for Nordic walking and running shoes, but these definitely will not cost a fortune and will serve their purpose for many years (and quarantines) to come.

To exercise is to be healthy, and we made it clear that no lockdowns will be able to change it. Exercising at home has never been so easy and available for everyone, so wait no more and choose a way of getting in shape right now! New Year is less than a month away – let’s waste no time and keep those promises and goals for real.

Tips and Lists for National Lockdown? Yes – Do Not Stress!

Oh no… Did it really happen one more time?! Quarantine has again decided to visit us. Now we have to sit at home between the four walls and survive national lockdown’s arrival for as long as it takes. Such a situation forces us to cut all unnecessary social contacts with other people and watch the world safely from our home window. As even the least significant unpleasant situations and twists and turns make us feel irritated, such a routine can make everyone go crazy very fast. It’s a responsible thing to stay at home; however, stress does not add health to our organisms. We love each Biomedicanna friend very much and do not want them to feel stressed, be unhappy, or get sick – we have prepared you a list of seven great ways to spend time at home, which will make you forget about the Coronavirus pandemic and stress at all!

Tip No. 1 – Greet Mornings with Exercise

Getting up in the morning to go to work is hard. In the face of a pandemic, getting up in the morning and then working from home is even more difficult as few steps away, your cosy and fluffy bed waits for you come back. It’s time to wake up! Start each stress-free quarantine morning with an exercise lasting at least a few minutes – stretch stiff muscles, reach the toes with your fingers, do a few push-ups and sit-ups, or jump into pants while listening to your favourite song! Every type of exercise works as long as you are doing it right. Our team advises you to spend some time researching the internet before planning your work-out regime. There are many videos of experienced trainers showing every exercise and explaining its benefits to your body. In case of not so much determination to exercise on your own, find online sports communities, register for live work-out broadcasts, and start shaping your body for after the quarantine now! We cannot imagine our mornings with meditation, yoga, and Pilates!

Tip No. 2 – Have a Healthy Smoothie Afterwards

Sports can be exhausting sometimes; therefore, after the morning workout, you must reward your body with a healthy and tasty breakfast. We all know stories about what foods and dishes do professional athletes eat daily, but let’s admit some of those recipes are pretty strange and require exquisite cooking skills. Nevertheless, there is one thing that neither ordinary people nor top-level athletes give up – it’s healthy green cocktails and smoothies! Such drinks are often thought about as energy and vitamin bombs – mix every type of vegetables, fruits, and berries in the blender and enjoy a tasty beginning of the day. Search the internet again, and there you will definitely find many delicious, quick, and easy recipes. We at Biomedicanna advise you to add a few drops of natural and organic CBD Oil into your everyday smoothie to make it even healthier – regular use of CBD helps lower the levels of anxiety and depression, relieve stress, and boost the immune system. Besides, our best smoothie mix contains frozen bananas, mangoes, cherries, peaches, oatmeal, almond milk, and – of course – CBD Oil Drops!

Tip No. 3 – Play a Little Game with Your Mind

It is easy to immerse yourself in the daily worries when all days of the quarantine feel the same. Medical researchers found out that long periods of nowhere to go, no one to talk to, and nothing to do harms our mental health and makes us lose our social skills – we are becoming less and less exciting and happy, dark, and sad thoughts become our daily friends. In case this happens, you need to banish such thoughts out of your brain and occupy your mind with intellectual games and activities instead. We are best in giving fun and joyful bits of advice – invite your quarantine friend to play some board and card games, do puzzles, or crosswords! Mentioned activities reinforce connections between our brain cells, improves thinking speed, and helps protect the brain from aging up. In general, games such as chess, Scrabble, Monopoly, Risk, Cluedo, Uno cards, or even charades and Pictionary keeps our bodies and minds young by making them work harder than ever!

Tip No. 4 – Grab a Book in Your Hands

A national lockdown has actually saved you loads of time without having to commute to work every day; however, it’s up to you how you will spend them. We advise you to spend some free time with books in your hands - quarantine is the perfect time to actually finish at least several books from your reading list. Reading allows us to instantly travel to different cities and continents, the future and past; those pages makes us fall in love with some characters and envy the others. Most importantly, books keep us busy, and let’s forget about life with a dangerous pandemic right beside. If reading a book is not for you, maybe listening for one is? We advise you to try list audiobooks or various podcasts, which encourages multitasking and fill our heads with more exciting thoughts than doing dishes, laundry, or hoovering the carpets. In our home libraries, you may find some of the best-written works including, To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, The Catcher in the Rye by Jerome Salinger, and many more – start your reading journey to stress-free quarantine with three masterpieces!

Tip No. 5 – Pamper Yourself with Love and Self-care

Quarantine is a tough opponent to fight against; therefore, we have to be the best versions of ourselves. Even if you may not need to meet with other people at this time, you should not neglect the way your skin, hair, and overall body looks. Spending an entire lockdown dressed in comfortable pyjamas is nice but, at the same time, is very unproductive. It is especially important to find a bit of time every day to be in peace with yourself. Self-care is a real stress-relieving deal, which usually includes a foamy hot bath, homemade body scrubs, fancy serums, expensive masks, and a glass of your favourite drink! Here at Biomedicanna, we love our teammates and friends as much as ourselves. We advise you to enrich your everyday self-love rituals with natural essences and oils, organic cosmetics , and eco-friendly solutions as caring for your wellness must not hurt Mother Earth.

Tip No. 6 – Have a Movie After Dinner

Like a cherry on the cake, yet another quarantine day must end with a good movie. Decorating your home to remind at least a bit of a movie theatre and ensuring all necessary snacks are in place protect us all from the stress and makes us doubt quarantine really happening. However, we are quickly brought back into reality as the time comes to choose what we will be watching today. Internet movie platforms and streaming services have a variety of blockbusters to offer, so our job is to make this process easier. We advise you to spend quarantine watching real classics – The Shawshank Redemption, The Godfather, Schindler’s List, or Forest Gump. Yes, these four movies can make you cry and even more stressful than lockdown has made you already, so let’s watch some comedy movies instead. Turn your TV’s on for Life Is Beautiful, Untouchable, Amelie, or one of the newest hits, Parasite – we recommend only the best!

Tip No. 7 – Binge-watch TV Series

Let’s face it - one movie may sometimes be not enough for true cinema lovers. However, one night in the quarantine may be just enough to finish an entire season of a really great TV series. We are guilty of choosing to have several sleepless nights and watching new episodes of our favourite shows instead, too. Taking us to mythical lands, showing us how to fight against dragons and go to planets far away, some of the best TV series will take more than several nights to finish. We personally love Game of Thrones, Suits, Stranger Things, The Big Bang Theory, and, of course, legendary sitcom Friends! Real and sincere laughter, best actors, and unexpected turns of events are what you need for a fun quarantine experience and levels of stress dropping down in the blink of an eye.

Seven tips in one day can be too much if you have a busy schedule, have to work, or study for the larger part of your average quarantine day. We advise you to try at least advice every day of the week – stay safe, healthy, and stress-free!
