Valentine Day is Over - Love for Yourself Goes On

Here at Biomedicanna, we work long hours to ensure thousands of loyal customers' health and happiness. We dedicated this entire month to remind everyone how important it is to love themselves in many different ways, both emotionally and physically. Even though loving yourself and others are the noblest actions we take daily, we may sometimes run into difficulties and forget what matters the most. Today let's remember what ideas and tips both of our interview heroes have shared about loving others and yourself and how our products can help you love more deeply and passionately.

--

Love has many faces and expressions, yet not everyone can experience them equally as love is a very intimate emotion. Each of us has a different relationship with love; thus, we may devote our time and attention to entirely different aspects of our lives. At the same time, love means enjoying joyful moments with others, even if it is a time well-spent pampering ourselves. We can see that love is quite similar to a vast palette of colours, which mix to create one large painting – a happy, healthy and prosperous life. February's interview heroes Dominyka and Dainius both shared their ideas about love. As they come from two different sectors, not surprisingly, their views on love are quite different.

Dominyka Mikstaite is an owner of brand artumè, which combines healing methods and practices from Tibetan and Western Medicine to help people prevent diseases and preserve and nurture longevity and inner happiness. She understands love as having two components: 'mommy love' means altruistically accepting and unconditionally loving yourself. 'Daddy love' means having the necessary life skills to adapt to all live twists and turns to live to the fullest.

Dainius Jakucionis is a doctor psychotherapist, who besides helping people solve their psychological and emotional issues, is often a guest speaker in various training and public conferences. He also understands love as two different types: firstly, it is an emotional feeling, which people may have or may not. Secondly, love is an action and, despite knowing the first type of love or not, we can all do something for ourselves each day to show that we care about how we feel.

Despite coming from two entirely different sectors and expressing different approaches towards the same love subject, both Dominyka and Dainius shared similar tips towards achieving health, happiness and purposeful life. Their advice includes spending time in nature, sleeping for at least eight hours each day, creating and maintaining a daily routine that would provide joy rather than sadness and planning little breaks to spend time for yourself only. Besides, both interview heroes highlighted the importance of eating healthy - we tried to cover this topic in our previous blog dedicated to loving yourself through food. We even included a fantastic recipe for delicious pancakes to encourage you to start this tasty journey as soon as possible.

It's easy to spot love's versatility, but we all should look for those expressions of love that are closest to us and our way of living. Here at Biomedicanna, our teammates' eyes are burning with passion for sustainable, eco-friendly, vegan and cruelty-free self-care. All of our products check those boxes and are widely used to enrich our daily lives with love, yet they have different purposes and ways to improve our well-being.

CBD Drops and Paste enhance health and immunity, while our cosmetics line takes care of and protects all types of skin from nature's elements. CBD drops come in a variety of concentration levels as different people have different self-care and medical needs. CBD Paste Raw is the most potent hemp product we offer; nevertheless, all our products contain legal THC amounts. All cosmetics products are also paraben-free and organic as we provide only the highest quality products. CBD Silk Balm will soothe and deeply moisturize dry and itchy skin, nurturing it with quality extracts. Simultaneously, CBD Cooling Gel provides relief to overworked muscles and joints, helping relieve inflammation and soreness. Christmas Gift Shopping – Rewarding Everyone With Health

We dare you to take a look at the calendar, in which you will see that there are less than 50 days left till the most wonderful time of the year – Christmas! Joyful and legendary songs sound not only in our homes but also in the shopping centres where we look for Christmas presents for our family, friends, and, of course, ourselves – as Santa rewards only the best, some of us must themselves take care of the gifts. It might be easy to choose a gift for ourselves, but what is precious enough to reward parents, siblings, best friends, or loved ones? The best gift idea is health! We made a list of physical and mental health-enhancing gifts to save you some time and money as all of the presents that we advise you to buy has great and heartfelt do-it-yourself alternatives. Christmas gift shopping starts now!

Idea No. 1 – Christmas Decorations

What is more Christmassy than snow, baubles, wreaths, and pine trees? Well, nothing beats pretty Christmas decorations and blinking lights, and it’s never too early to start filling your home and heart with festive magic. However, store-bought Christmas decorations are quite expensive, but the good news is that you can invite your loved ones over for a little cosy decorations workshop! Any DIY project works very well as mental and physical therapy – picking and gluing small bits and pieces improves hand motility and helps people having problems with concentration. The little get-together will allow you not only to catch up with old friends, create handcrafted gifts but also reuse things found around the house as such activities encourage eco-friendliness!

Idea No. 2 – Vitamins and Supplements

Vitamins and immune-boosting food supplements are one of the most popular Christmas gifts ideas. However, what helps one, may not be suitable for another person, so we advise you to get rid of the idea of gifting pharmacy-bought vitamins and opt-out for natural goods – foods and drinks that are considered vitamin bombs. Including different types of meats, grain, vegetables, and fruits into one’s daily diet can strengthen their immune system and overall health more than any medicine. We encourage you to invite your loved one to dinner or organise a cooking workshop, in which you will be able to cook and taste ingredients and dishes you have never tried before. If you are on the lookout for more modest food-related gifts, a recipe book is always a good idea!

Idea No. 3 – Spa Experience

Show us a person who would decline a weekend getaway offer! There is none! As everyone wants to run away from their problems sometimes, weekend trips to various resorts, spa centres, and hotels are very high on demand. It is a great gift idea too! However, we advise you to gift a voucher for such pleasures instead of booking your loved one’s weekend before even asking about his or her availability. In case you cannot leave home even for a weekend, why not enjoy the luxuries of a spa in your bathroom? Online or in small shops, you can find loads of different scented bath bombs or foams, scrubs, masks, and many more quality spa attributes. You can even try to make them yourself but before, make sure products and recipes, which you are using, are safe both for the environment and yourself! Make it, pack it, and gift it to the ones you care about the most!

Idea No. 4 – Quality Sleep

Humans spend one-third of their lives sleeping; thus, it would be unfortunate to sleep uncomfortable. Gifting a quality sleep experience to someone for Christmas does not mean inviting them over to try your mattress or a pillow, but it is okay to consider buying such gifts only if you know your loved ones lack them. However, great rest does not only depend on expensive sleeping equipment. We advise you to encourage your relatives not to use mobile phones in bed and read a book instead of endlessly counting sheep. As insomnia takes the happiness out of many people's lives, you can help your loved ones solve this problem by gifting CBD Oil Drops to improve their sleep quality and overall health. Do not forget to try these ideas yourself - you should lead by example!

Idea No. 5 – Romantic Date Experience

Admit it, Christmas is a bit too cold for counting stars, and with an ongoing situation, any ideas for a nice date involving crowded places are not safe as well. Therefore, there is no better place for a romantic date night than your home. Most of the time, cosy moments with your beloved don’t have to be pricey as the best memories require only creativity and time. Recreate your first meal together and prepare a three-course dinner, including fancy desserts or fill your living room with pillows and blankets to create a movie theatre. For this season, we advise you to gift a Christmas karaoke experience or a set of scratch cards with the names of best movies, meals, or games written underneath! Remember, any date night is perfect when the feelings are real – consider a healthy relationship a top priority and the best gift of all times!

Idea No. 6 – Board Games, Puzzles, and Books

With plenty of time on our hands, playing board games, reading books, and completing intricate puzzles helps us survive those long and cold winter evenings and relax. However, the majority of puzzles and books are interesting for only once, and while board games are fun to play with friends and relatives, they can also become boring after several plays. Buying and gifting new ones is always a great idea; however, they can empty your wallet if you decide to send them to all people on your Christmas list. We advise you to create personalised memory books, photo albums, or writing a story about how you met the exact person, how happy you are to have them in your life. You can also try to create a small-scale treasure hunting experience with a nice little gift at the end – the journey to the treasure itself is the greatest gift!

Idea No. 7 – Gym Subscription

Next Monday? Next year? Is the person you know speaks about the sports and wellness of their body using these phrases? Why not giving them sports equipment for Christmas so they can start exercising immediately, you may think? Do exactly that, and you will never be more wrong in your life. Committing to everyday gym sessions and exercises is hard; thus, receiving any sport-related gifts, except for tickets to a match, can be understood as an insult. Here as well, you should lead by example – we advise you to invite the person to join you for a quick jog in a park or a hike in a forest. Sports and other physical activities will be a great gift to yourself, but you would receive much more than that – it’s the relationship with another person that you get through doing sports together.

Idea No. 8 – Therapy and Meditation Sessions

Christmas is a time of gathering, sharing stories, and listening, what funny has happened to others throughout the year. However, the most important things are the ones your body is trying to tell you; thus, some quality self-care moments will cheer your body and soul the most. We advise you to gift such joy to others as well – invite them to paint therapy classes, meditations workshops, or reward them with subscriptions for the best mobile relaxation applications there are. Such gifts will help your loved ones relax, calm down, and reduce levels of stress. Besides, regular use of CBD oil also helps relieve anxiety and lessen depression. Well, as such gifts can sometimes turn out to be greater than your budget, use free online services, and introduce your friends and family to them!

Idea No. 9 – Themed Gift Boxes

Is there a person among your friends to which you find almost impossible to choose the right gift? You will never miss rewarding them with a unique and universal gift set, which represents their personality traits, lifestyle, and favourite hobbies. As a great number of small presents and things can be put into one gift box, try fitting love, happiness, and health there as well. For this Christmas, we have created four different sets of health-enhancing , immune-strengthening , skin-moisturising , and muscle-relaxing gifts, which will make your loved one incredibly happy. All four gift boxes include CBD Oil Drops Raw and other CBD healthy goods such as Silk Balm, Face and Body Cream, or Cooling Gel. We guarantee that a healthy body, mind, and overall wellness are the greatest gifts that will wait for you and your loved one underneath the Christmas tree!

Idea No. 10 – Attention and Warmth

Besides all other gift ideas on the list, we would be very wrong excluded this one from the list – a sincere and attentive conversation with your relatives and friends is sometimes all they need! Christmas is about love, support, warmth, and real connection with the ones you love the most in your entire life. Conversation with a cup of tea may last till the evening; however, such moments are irreplaceable for talking things that bother out, discussing problems and concerns, looking for solutions, and pieces of advice. We do not seek to belittle the work of professional psychotherapists and psychologists, but firstly, it is worth to speak openly about mental and physical health with people that are closest to your heart.

Gifts are traditional attributes when celebrating many different occasions: birthdays, anniversaries, achievements, etc., but spending ridiculous amounts of money may still not buy the things that will cheer their souls up. This Christmas, reward your loved ones with gifts that matter the most – health.

How to Protect Yourself from the Freezing Cold?

Autumn has already conquered not only our lives but also wardrobes as falling tree leaves and harsh winds make us crave for warm and cosy moments. In reality, the autumn is much more than vivid colours and pumpkins. Sadly, it also means the temperature dropping lower and lower every single day. Morning frost follows cold weather and suggests winter season being just around the corner. Some may say that there is no bad weather, only inappropriate clothing, but is it really the case?

Why Cold Weather and Freezing Temperature are Dangerous?

It is no secret that some people may react to the same temperatures differently – one will feel cold while another one will say that the temperature is too warm for him or her to feel comfortable. However, no one tends to argue about the coldness of negative or very low temperatures, which are the attributes of late autumn and usually stays throughout the winter. It is widely known that cold temperatures cause physiological stress and can result in damaged body parts, such as ears, nose, cheeks, fingers or toes, etc. Damaged skin will be quickly covered in painful blisters, and different body parts will go numb and might turn black.

Cold weather makes our bodies lose heat faster than they are capable of producing. Such a condition is called hypothermia and is one of the most common problems which happen to people after being exposed to freezing temperatures as well as icy water. Hypothermia is a real threat to every person, as even as little as 10 to 15 minutes is enough to get frostbites and risk with an amputation of the limbs. Besides, cold temperatures increase the chance of experiencing heart failure as hearts try to work harder to keep us warm but are not able to.

Cold weather sounds scary, right? Well, it does not have to be like that! We will tell you all about how to prepare to face all of the freezing challenges thrown at us!

Strength to Fight the Cold Comes from Within

Medical researchers strive hard to educate the society about the cold and its effects on the human body. They all agree that the healthier the person is, the more easily he or she can cope with low temperatures. Therefore, the fight against the cold begins with one’s inner strength – the immune system. We should think of the immune system as an invisible shield protecting us not only from the cold but also from various viruses and bacteria; thus, strengthening the immune system is very important. However, it is necessary to maintain its power using the right methods.

Probably the most popular way of increasing the immune system’s toughness is including citrus fruits into one’s regular diet. Full of Vitamin C, lemons are natural antioxidants that improve a person’s immune barrier and has antiviral and antibacterial abilities. Besides nutritious and healthy foods, CBD products , and especially CBD oil drops , are gaining their popularity in the field of immune-strengthening at an impressive speed.

The Importance of Hot Fluids

Let’s not assume that sipping coffee on your way to work in the morning is only a fashion statement – it is a ritual of self-care, body awakening method, and excellent protection against frostbite. For these reasons, the reusable coffee cup – eco-friendliness is one of the biggest goals for humanity – must become your loyal companion during the cold season. However, medical practitioners advise opting for tea instead of coffee or choosing hot water and various herbs or berries mix. It does not matter that when you return home, it looks like you don’t need hot fluids anymore – homemade broths are considered not only delicious foods but also medicine, which you must include in your food ration. For example, Jewish Chicken soup is also called Jewish Penicillin that can significantly cut the time one spends being sick. Oral consumption is not the only way how hot fluids can help your body and immune system fight the cold – hot water baths are used widely throughout the world to warm people’s hands, feet, and whole bodies. Hot bubble baths with various extracts and natural oils both help relax and accelerate the functional processes of the body.

Protection Against the Cold from the Bottom to the Top

It’s true that negative temperatures can quickly take over the whole body, so the secret to the best protection against the cold is not letting it grab you in the first place. That means minimising the area of naked skin when going out in the cold and protecting uncovered skin patches as well. You ask how? We answer!

Proper footwear. Various traumas come together with winter frost, and only high-quality non-slip boots can protect you from spending valuable time in the A&E department of your local hospital. Yes, high-quality winter shoes can sometimes be expensive, but once you invested your money into them, you will surely be safe from trip and slip accidents. Keeping feet warm and dry is the key to a safe winter season as urinary tract inflammation, and kidney problems often start with soaking-wet shoes and socks after you did not see that puddle.

Layering clothes. The bigger - the better does not apply to dress up for the cold as here the number one rule is to layer outdoor clothing. Before going outside, you must protect yourself with at least 3 to 4 layers of clothes, starting with a long-sleeve shirt, jumper, thinner jacket, and, preferably, an eiderdown parka coat. For the bottoms, we advise you to wear thermo-leggings or pantyhose and warm pants on top of them; be aware that jeans material attracts the cold, so you should leave this piece of clothing for the higher temperatures.

Skin protection. Logically thinking, only our faces are left uncovered without any clothing during freezing colds. Although we can choose to wear a full-face covering ski-masks, we rarely to never do so. In such cases, it is necessary to maintain the richness and oily skin texture and to create moisture barriers between our actual skin and the frost. We recommend you try our new Extra-Rich Face & Body Cream  against cold, which provides excellent antioxidant protection and also has anti-inflammatory properties. Besides that, this best winter cream is safe for people with oily or acne-prone skin. The good news does not end there - one of the key cream ingredients is CBD!

Life-saving accessories. Every season is better with the right stylish accessories, but it is even more advantageous if they can save your life or at least improve overall well-being. It is nice to think about these three accessories – gloves, scarf, and hat – as some winter protection trinity as they are valuable both individually and complement each other. Gloves are a must to protect fingers from the cold as limbs get the frostbite way faster than other body parts. Big and fluffy scarfs safeguard throats from inhaling cold air into one’s lungs and causing bronchial irritation, cough, and shortness of breath. A warm hat shields the head and protects the brain from such problems as confusion and loss of orientation, which usually leads to far more complicated issues like hypothermia.

No season shows up unexpectedly, but cold weather can do just that! When it comes to strengthening your immune system, it should become your lifetime goal – a strong immune system means protection from many, often invisible problems. Besides that, you should always carry with yourself rich cream against the cold and a reusable cup for hot beverages – these things will protect you from the outside and strengthen from within. Even though you cannot take your whole wardrobe together with yourself all the times, have some outfits at home prepared in advance, so when you see snow outside your window, it will take you less time to get ready to make snow angels!

When in Doubts Call CBD Mythbusters!

Even the simplest and most rewarding things can often raise the most questions, so naturally, the myths surround them like a dark cloud of rain. Cannabidiol products fall into the category of controversial and subtle topics, which many people know nothing about. As false information tends to spread incredibly fast, it’s up to the people who know the truth to fight for it. Here we are to answer all doubting questions about CBD for once and for all!

What is CBD?

CBD is short for Cannabidiol, and the very name obviously suggests CBD deriving from the cannabis plant but let’s assume that you know that already. CBD is one of more than 400 composite chemical materials found in Cannabis Sativa – the hemp plant . People have been cultivating hemp and making ropes and other natural fabrics for centuries as the growing process does not require much effort or resources. However, hemp gained its popularity as ‘the plant of many uses’ relatively recently. Nowadays, the most common use of hemp is to extract CBD and use it for therapeutic purposes. The researchers from all around the world still debate whether to acknowledge CBD as an official medicine or not. At the same time, they are sure about CBD uniqueness – you will not be able to find similar chemical compounds anywhere else in nature!

Is CBD Safe?

As mentioned, CBD is still quite a new thing; thus, academicians have not yet managed to research it to the full extent. Regardless of the fact if we consider CBD as medicine or not, we must follow one rule when using it – different medications or supplements always interact with one another. It is the users’ responsibility for what types of drugs he takes at the same time. Even the best researchers might not be able to predict their reactions or side effects at all times, but generally speaking, CBD is safe when used responsibly. Manufacturers working with CBD always put instructions for safe use of the product on its package and are open to providing users with consultations. Before using CBD oil or other products, it is worth talking with your doctor, pharmacist, or even veterinarian as there are particular CBD products meant only for our beloved house pets!

Is CBD a Drug?

You should not mistake hemp for marijuana even though they both are considered members of the cannabis family. Different marijuana and hemp cultivation processes result in different nature of the products themselves. The most significant distinction between hemp and marijuana depends on the THC level. THC is the principal psychoactive constituent of cannabis, or to make it simpler – THC can make you high. Because of this attribute, marijuana is illegal in many world countries, while most of them allow products with low amounts of THC. The usual level of THC in products that we sell does not exceed the limit of 0,2%; therefore, CBD is not considered a drug. However, regulations vary from one place to another, be sure to check them if you decide to take your CBD products abroad.

Can CBD Appear in Drug Tests?

Continuing with what already has been said, drug tests are made to identify whether there is or not traces of THC in your organism, and not for identifying CBD. Usually, urine drug tests are performed during which tiny antibodies search for THC’s metabolites and, in case of finding them, show ‘positive’ results. Looking from a theoretical perspective, you may receive not so pleasant outcomes after the test if the CBD products that you use contains THC. However, such a possibility is very low as the THC level in products is low itself. If you are not keen on testing your luck, you should abstain from CBD products for at least 24 to 36 hours before taking the drug test. Always make sure you purchase CBD products from reliable manufacturers and suppliers.

How Can CBD Benefit My Life?

Let’s start listing CBD benefits from the most obvious one – different from marijuana, CBD does not have an intoxicating effect. It may improve users’ life by reducing the levels of anxiety, relieving depression, controlling psychosis, and promoting neuroprotection. CBD products such as CBD oil has helped many people to improve the quality of their sleep and relieve pain; for example, after a few months of use, numerous women have reported that their menstruation pain is not that intense. CBD benefits do not end right there as higher concentration CBD products such as 21% CBD Oil Drops or CBG Paste Raw is widely used in groups of people battling various forms of cancer. It helps cancer patients ease the symptoms of painful chemotherapy sessions, prevent vomiting and nausea. Besides that, CBD products are the most usually used to improve the immune system and ensure overall well-being, organism’s harmony.

Quarantine? Not again! or How Not to Die from Boredom?

Another wave of serious virus rolls through the world and threatens us with a chance of quarantine repeating. The world stops just for us to be safe and healthy, and we must comfortably play our parts of not going to work or social events while having a runny nose. It means working from home and limiting contact with other people to a very minimum. I know, staying closed between the four walls might as quickly drive us crazy as it might force us to die from boredom. How to survive quarantine? It’s simple – follow the tips and tricks we have prepared for you to promote self-care and keep you clear-headed!

Becoming a Book Worm

Let’s admit the fact that some books have been on your reading list for far too long, so quarantine is the perfect time to check off several of them at least. However, it’s also okay not to have such a list or your favourite book. If you are not sure about what genre of books you like, let’s start with some classics. For example, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s ‘Great Gatsby’ will take you back to the roaring twenties where a man desires to reunite with his long-lost love. In the case of a story with a hint of historical spices, choose L. Tolstoy’s ‘War and Peace.’ As you will find this next book at the top of the lists of greatest books of all time, it is worth reading for everyone. J. K. Rowling’s ‘Harry Potter’ is meant not only for kids as everyone may interpret the magic world in his very own way. Books will surely help you to distract thoughts from quarantine!

Tasty Quarantine

Quarantine is also the best time to open different types of books – cooking books! Spending some time in the kitchen cooking can be truly rewarding as you only need some creativity to become the best chef. Ordering home delivery food every day will quickly max out your credit cards, and we’re not even talking about delivered food being cold already. It’s more fun to tie around your apron and roll your sleeves up rather than ordering meals. Believe us - you have every ingredient you might need to make the best meal of your life. In the case of an empty fridge or pantry, you can always count on grocery delivery services available in the biggest cities. However, if you are more of an eater than a chef, we advise you to turn on the TV and watch culinary shows – it’s just a bit sad that TV cannot convey nose-tingling pleasant cooking smells yet!

Unleash Creativity

Quarantine has stopped your complaints about not having enough free time to coming back to your favourite hobbies. It does not matter whether you like painting or playing the violin, whether you enjoy doing puzzles or sewing new pieces of clothing from second-hand materials. Creativity is the only thing you need once you have tons of free time on your hands to spend on what you love the most. Doing arts and crafts is a perfect way to distract yourself not only from depressing quarantine routines but also from stress at work and sleep deprivation, which haunts us when hitting those office deadlines. We encourage you to try out hobbies that you have never tried before – learn haiku, start making flower arrangements, photoshopping, or talking backward - your ideas are not crazy, they are brilliant! Well, just in case hobbies do not work, try using CBD oil to lower stress levels and concentrate better.

It’s Popcorn Time!

The time flies by when we are watching our favourite movies and TV shows. As quarantine awards you with plenty of time for binge-watching the newest comedy or drama series, allow us to share a list of Emmy Award winners that will make you think only about another episode and nothing else in this world! ‘Schitt’s Creek,’ a comedy about a filthy-rich family turning broke, will make you laugh uncontrollably while ‘Succession’ will offer you many surprising plot twists as the story surrounds the media empire owners the Roy family. Even though such TV series as ‘The Good Place,’ ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine,’ ‘Killing Eve,’ or incredibly famous and successful ‘Stranger things’ have not won in the most important Emmy categories this year, they are still worthy of your attention, tears, and guesses of what will happen next. Make sure you have plenty of snacks ready to get you through numbers of episodes, seasons, and shows!

Let’s Adult – Time to Clean

No one likes cleaning dust, hoovering the carpets, or doing dishes in everyday life, but in quarantine, even these chores help pass the time. In reality, it is not that hard to make cleaning more fun – try turning your favourite music up and dancing while you clean those nasty spider webs you’ve been ignoring for ages. Dedicate your quarantine for tidying up the closet as this activity is as practical as it is promoting self-love – you will see all of the clothes that you have and feel good about yourself for achieving it at the same time! Many scientific studies have confirmed that a clean and fresh environment helps us concentrate and encourages better moods. If every corner in your home is now clean, but you still have not reached the peace with yourself, considering trying CBD products as they are a great addition to everyone’s well-being and overall health.

Stay Fit

Quarantine made the majority of us fail our daily move, and step goals as being closed between the four walls mean low activity. Expensive gym memberships will not remotely make your body fit, so it’s only up to you to stay in great shape. Even the morning exercises such as yoga or Pilates will help you highlight the muscles and ensure good health. A healthy and balanced diet also contributes to achieving even better results, which would not be able with exercises only. One of the best being fit trends is green cocktails in which you mix fresh fruits and vegetables. As they are called real energy bombs, cocktails contain a lot of additional supplements and vitamins, including CBD products, which improve the immune system and free you from fatigue after heavy training sessions. Be careful – some types of sports and exercising can do more harm to your body than good, so make sure you find the best way of staying fit!

Conquer the quarantine with these tips and tricks to truly enjoy the long periods at home. Knowing your physical and mental needs is a huge help when planning different indoor activities. Besides all of these boredom hacks, let’s not forget to spend quality time with the ones quarantining together.

Surprise! or Do’s and Don’ts When Bringing a New Four-legged Friend Home

Admit it – you once were this annoying kid asking parents to get you a dog for Christmas. You can consider yourself lucky to finally know that feeling of wet nose touching your face to encourage you to get up in the morning faster. However, many people only now welcome a four-legged friend to their homes. As great questions rattle the heads of the new pet owners, we are ready to provide you with truthful answers and valuable bits of advice!

The Animal Always Comes First

Choosing the right animal for you is the most significant aspect. Even though you may fell in love with every pet which pictures you see on the internet, buying the first breed that you see is an irresponsible decision to make. As different breeds of cats and dogs have distinctive character traits and everyday needs, knowing your own lifestyle becomes the key to finding your one and true four-legged friend. The proverb that an animal is similar to its owner is created for a reason!

Sometimes, your future pet might be waiting for you at a professional kennel. Such cases apply to dogs and cats of more exotic breeds as their parents usually are the stars of shows. We encourage you to have consultations with certified breeders and visit the pet for at least a few times before taking it to your home. It will guarantee a smooth adaptation process for the pet, and you will contribute to the destruction of illegal kennels.

As pets from official and reliable breeders come with their own price, most loving pets usually come from the shelters. They end up there after being mistreated by their previous owners, they got lost or left intentionally, after illegal breeders are found and their dirty businesses exposed. Empty shelters are still rarity all around the world; thus, it is our duty to give animals a second chance, a new lease on life, and adopt them all.

Visits to Pet Shop

Just as you may need a new phone or a pair of boots, so does an animal need a set of things that will ensure the quality and fullness of its life. Your shopping list should begin with a comfortable bed for napping, bowls for super-premium food and water, the food itself, healthy treats to reward your pet for good behaviour, several different toys, and puzzles to keep your fluffy friend entertained and physically active. Besides, you should invest in a pet collar with a leash for fun walks outside – don’t forget to write your contact number on a tag in case your dog or a cat gets lost for it to return to you safely and quickly.

As you want to provide your pet with quality things only, the overall cost might exceed your wallet’s capabilities. We advise you to start preparing in advance and buy items when on sale. However, don’t try to save on your pet’s account - buying cheap means buying twice!

Loving Owners and Safe Home

Adopting a four-legged friend into your family must be a decision and responsibility that all family members are ready and happy to take. A pet should not become a toy that would eventually feed up their owners as it should be a loyal companion through all ups and downs. Even the little kids must understand that caring for a dog or a cat is a serious job requiring devotion 24/7. Dogs will bark and wake you up early in the morning despite weather conditions to go outside for a walk; cats will scratch you sleeping to inform about feeding time or wanting attention, - you must commit to caring for your four-legged family member for as long as they need with a smile on your face.

Of course, not all animals require the same amount of attention as some are more independent than others. However, some pets with unenviable past may have a hard time adjusting with you leaving for work; therefore, time spent alone at home can result in serious separation anxiety hurting your pet. In this case, we advise you to use CBD for pets to reduce hyperactive reactions, calm your dog or a cat, and care for its nervous and immune system all at the same time.

Before bringing an animal into your home you must ensure its safety and introduce them to new smells, sounds, and spaces gradually. Smooth adaptation will allow the pet to feel more confident and calmer when being alone. These safety precautions also involve putting away easily reachable and breakable items from where your pet can reach them and not leaving pet’s food in a clear and visible place as overeating can result in major and sometimes fatal problems. It is necessary when leaving an animal alone at home to provide it with toys or other means of spending time. You must reward the pet with attention and treats when returning to a tidy and unspoiled home to encourage its good behaviour.

Health Concerns

There is no one perfect way to raise your pet, but a veterinarian can answer all your questions about the animal’s health. As little puppies need various vaccines, you will be paying visits to a vet office quite often, but the number of visits should decrease as the pet grows. With time you will learn more about your fluffy friend and its allergies, attitude, and character traits, and it will become easier to spot signs which may alert you about life-threatening health problems of your animal. We advise you to purchase animal life insurance as you would buy one for each of your family members with no doubt.

Adopting a senior animal from a shelter is a noble act; however, they usually have plenty of health issues. For example, older dogs and cats are less active as their joints are worn out, and they might experience pain when moving or fight with seizures in the case of chronic illnesses. Most veterinarians will firstly advise you to start natural homeopathic treatments, thus using CBD oil instead of usual pain relief medicine is always a good idea. Besides mentioned properties, CBD oil is a good addition to pets’ immune system and might even help with food digestion.

Bringing a new four-legged friend home and into your life is a huge step, which you would definitely not regret stepping. Once you feel the warmth your pet brings you as it lies down next to your, its kiss and licks as you come back from work, and silliness as it enjoys playing with you, you will only question yourself why you waited for so long.

Take it easy! or Why should you have a rest day?

Human bodies are considered medical masterpieces keeping many secrets left undisclosed inside. No matter how accurate and well our organisms are usually working, they sometimes shut off. It does not happen out of the blue as our bodies get tired and desperately need quality rest. Why our bodies react like that? Why rest is so important? How to achieve absolute relaxation?

What happens to a tired body?

Fatigue is not only a physical but also a psychological phenomenon. Our bodies might lack energy for us to function due to many different things: sleep deprivation, busy work schedule, irresponsible lifestyle, stress, various illnesses, and mental health issues, such as anxiety or depression, etc. What’s interesting is that long periods of laziness can also lead to extreme exhaustion!

You don’t need to have a medical degree to notice and recognize some of the effects of tiredness. Fatigue affects our skin as dark circles appear under eyes, skin becomes soggy, losses its elasticity and shininess, and we get cracked lips. It also negatively impacts our weight and eating habits; as metabolism slows down, hunger increases and the body starts searching for more energy, but for some fatigue might mean the complete loss of an appetite! Besides, tired people are more exposed to mood swings as they can laugh one minute and cry from sadness a few seconds later. It also gets harder for us to concentrate and memorize new information when suffering from exhaustion, so it takes a longer time to complete even the simplest tasks.

Deteriorated mental and physical health is not only a cause but also a consequence of tiredness and exhaustion. It’s a never-ending cycle as fatigue increases the risk of depression, thus worsening the whole ‘feeling tired’ situation. It also adds up to a weak immune system, cold-like symptoms, muscle tension, and headache, so our bodies are genuinely telling us when they are feeling tired, - we have to listen.

What’s the value of relaxation?

As fatigue is conquering our lives and stress levels are getting too high, all we have to do is rest and spend some time in peace with ourselves. It might be impossible to plan a few minutes a day to focus on breathing or meditation, but it does have a crucial impact on our happiness. The endorphins and serotonin - ‘happy hormones’ – goes hand in hand with enjoyable sensations and fights stress. Serotonin also helps balance mood swings and sleeping schedule; it takes care of appetite and digestion, - relaxed body better absorbs nutrients from the food. Let’s not forget dopamine as this hormone is associated with proper memory functioning!

Even a few minutes of rest helps our bodies operate. For example, breathing exercise slows the heart rate and relieves tension; it allows our minds to clear and start thinking positively. As our brains relax and restart, it gets easier to concentrate, memorize, make decisions, and fight viruses – all at the same time!

Tips on helping you relax

As cliché as it might sound, it is necessary to find the way to relax that fits the best, although, some ideas are worth for everyone to try.

We’ve already mentioned performing breathing exercises and meditating as both successfully reduce stress levels, help control anxiety, and promote self-awareness. There are many smartphone applications designed to help - press a few buttons, and you are good to go!

Other time-proven relaxation methods include visualization and muscle loosening exercises. The latter requires tightening and relaxing all one’s body muscles; it lowers blood pressure levels and reduces the body’s need for oxygen, thus reducing anxiety and fatigue.

Visualization is all about positive and relaxing thoughts going through one’s mind; it encourages the person to focus on the details and enhances overall concentration. If you still find yourself struggling to relax, try using CBD drops – their use improves the quality of sleep and reduces anxiety – it might be all you need!

Reward yourself with something you truly enjoy doing after a long and stressful day; it might be reading a book, watching movie, eating out, or having a hot bubble bath. Relaxing is all about positive emotions and inner happiness!

CBD and the rest day

It all sounds exciting, but not every rest day leads up to a healthy and fatigue-free life; if you work from home and try to rest on the same sofa, it might not be as relaxing as your wish. Changing the environment helps, but it might be hard to achieve desired results due to the ongoing pandemic situation and international quarantine restrictions.

Natural native surroundings offer the best possible ways to relax: why not try ‘restarting mind’ in the forest, by the lake or river? As scientists agree that any physical activity – walking, running, cycling, or swimming - can improve one’s health and reduce the risk to become ill, it also liberates one’s thoughts from stress and helps focus.

Activities in the fresh air can relax one’s brain, but the body may not feel any signs of rest. In such situations, it is useful to have some CBD cosmetics on hand; silk balm will soothe insect bites, CBD glide gel will take care of sun-kissed sun, and a cooling gel will relieve muscle pain after an uncomfortable sleep in the tent.

Fatigue can bring out many problems to the surface; it is necessary to prevent them in time. However, we might not always be one step ahead of them, so we must know how to deal with what they bring. Quality rest means loving yourself – who will take care of our bodies and minds if not us?

Train your brain to sleep better

Sleep is essential for good mental health, although not everyone is able to fall asleep or stay asleep. In this blog we’ll explore the reasons behind sleeplessness, how quality sleep brings quality of life and tips on dealing with insomnia.

What causes sleeplessness?

Stress is a leading cause of abnormal sleep patterns. Research shows it is a common trigger for both short-term and chronic insomnia. Stress can result from concerns about work, school, health, finances, anxiety and depression among other things, but perhaps the most deceptive cause is the fast-paced media packed world in which we live. Technology, world events and our ever-increasing knowledge about our world and the universe seem to have put time on a relentless treadmill and keeping up can wear out even the most determined among us. According to scientific research, stress creates incoherence in our heart rhythms, and when the heart is out of sync normal sleep patterns can be interrupted.

Poor sleep habits can cause difficulties sleeping, this includes going to sleep at irregular times, taking naps during the day, having stimulating activities before bed such as exercise, having an uncomfortable sleep environment, and using your bed for work, eating or watching TV.  The use of your smartphone, computer or other screens just before bed can interfere with your sleep cycle as the usual blue light stimulates your brain to be awake.

Eating late in the evening can too be a factor in sleeplessness, especially food that is high in carbohydrates and sugar. This may cause you to feel physically uncomfortable while lying down. Many people also experience heartburn, a backflow of acid and food from the stomach into the oesophagus after eating, which may keep you awake.

Traveling or a late work schedule is also a culprit. Your circadian rhythm acts as an internal clock, guiding such things as your sleep-wake cycle, metabolism and body temperature. Disrupting your body's circadian rhythms can lead to insomnia. Causes include jet lag from traveling across multiple time zones, working a late or early shift, or frequently changing shifts.

Why quality sleep is vital for your body?

When you sleep your brain works hard releasing hormones and processing information from your day. This is important for creating long term memories, as your brain combines all the information it has picked up during the day and files it away for later use. While you’re sleeping, your pituitary gland releases human growth hormone (HGH), which helps the body to grow and repair itself.

The body’s immune system releases small proteins called cytokines while sleeping. These cytokines help the body fight inflammation, infection and trauma. Without enough sleep, your immune system might not be able to function at its best.

Sleep allows your sympathetic nervous system, which controls your fight or flight response, to take a much needed break. Studies have shown that when we’re deprived of sleep, sympathetic nervous system activity increases, which is also mirrored by an increase in blood pressure. Levels of cortisol, often called the stress hormone, decreases during the first few hours of sleep before rising to peak soon after you wake up.

Tips on bettering your sleep

Getting a good night’s sleep is important in maintaining quality physical and mental health. There are several things that you can do to promote good sleep and ultimately get a better rest.

First things first it’s important to maintain a regular sleep routine. Do this by going to bed and waking up at a regular schedule. Ideally, aim to not stray from your sleep routine by more than 20 minutes every night of the week.

Avoid napping during the day. Instead, perhaps pop your earphones in and listen to some guided meditation. There are many different types of meditation, but they all come down to one basic tenet – relaxing the mind and trying to focus on the breath. Meditation is a way to exercise the unconscious mind, practice mindfulness and lessen anxieties. Although it’s not as traditionally restful as a nap, a session of meditation is another valid way to refresh and revive – and a meditation habit has multiple benefits to both mood and productivity.

When we take naps, it decreases the amount of sleep that we need the next night – which may cause sleep fragmentation and difficulty initiating sleep, and may lead to insomnia and sleep deprivation.

If you find your mind racing, or worrying about not being able to sleep during the middle of the night, don’t stay in bed tossing and turning. Instead, get out of bed and sit somewhere in the dark. Do your mind racing in the chair until you are sleepy, and then return to bed. Avoid looking at your phone or turning on the TV during this period as it will just stimulate you more than desired.

Try to read, watch TV or surf the internet outside of your comfy bed. This is because your brain might associate the bed with wakefulness. It’s best to reserve the bed for sleep only.

Avoid drinking caffeinated drinks such as coffee, black and green tea, energy drinks and cola. The effects of caffeine may last for several hours after ingestion. Caffeine can fragment sleep, and cause difficulty initiating sleep. If you drink caffeine, use it only during the first part of the day, however it would be better to look into alternatives such as chicory root ‘coffee’, carob and ginseng.

Get your body moving! Exercise before 2 pm every day. Even stretches or a walk is great for your body’s overall health and can promote continuous sleep. Avoid rigorous exercise before bedtime. Rigorous exercise circulates endorphins into the body which may cause difficulty initiating sleep.

It’s great if you prepare your bedroom for sleeping. A lower temperature can promote better sleep. So open a window or lower the thermostat some time before going to sleep. Having blinds to keep any light out is also great in activating our natural sleep cycle.

For some, the use of CBD oil has shown to be very beneficial. Recent research published in 2019 looked at whether CBD could improve sleep and/or reduce anxiety. The study involved 72 subjects, with 47 experiencing anxiety and 25 experiencing poor sleep. The subjects were each given 25 mg of CBD in capsule form each day. In the first month, 79.2 % of the patients reported lower anxiety levels and 66.7 % reported better sleep.

Sleep is important and you know that too well. Help yourself by trying out as many of these suggestions as you can and implementing them into your routine. It will better your sleep, overall health and well-being.

The Organic side of Mask

We all wear masks. On many different occasions, for various situations and while talking to plenty of different people. We wear masks always and so often it almost feels natural and invisible even for ourselves.

You might be wondering why this week’s blog is named ‘The Organic side of a Mask’ as it is funny how ironic can sound such phrase. No matter the unreliable and cheeky part, - what we will share with you today is a proof that even a mask can be organic

My mother always says:

“You cannot put on your skin something that you wouldn’t eat!’’

And she’s right... There are hundreds of ways we use face masks: in a sheet form; as a splash; even as a clay, and most of them are not that helpful for our skin, keeping in mind that in multiple cosmetic products we can find most ‘interesting’ ingredients that can be eventually harmful for us (if you’d like to get more knowledge about it, check up our previous Blog post).

Here we have the best 12 collected ‘recipes’ of purely organic face masks, suitable for all types of skin. Some of them might be surprising by their ingredients, but believe us, - it makes wonders. The best part is that these masks don’t have more than 4 ingredients in it, (including the CBD Oil itself among them); it is organic, enormously healthy, and you can simply make them at home without much of an endeavour and expenses. You only need to look as far as your kitchen!

Banana facial mask

Bananas are fully packed with vitamins that become great reason for getting a perfect skin: vitamin A helps to fade dark spots and blemishes; vitamin B, softens skin and helps to reduce dryness; vitamin E reduces the appearance of wrinkles, and potassium fully moisturized and hydrates our skin to the maximum. This full-pack of Vitamins makes banana fruit a skin God!

The recipe:

Mash up a medium-sized ripe banana into a smooth paste, then gently apply it to your face and neck. Let it set for 10 to 20 minutes, then rinse it off with cold water.

For variety, mix 1/4 cup plain yoghurt, add 2 tablespoons honey (a natural acne remedy), 5-6 drops of CBD Oil, and one medium banana.

Oatmeal facial mask

If you're looking for a quick pick-me-up that will leave you feeling and looking better, give yourself an oatmeal facial treatment!

Combine 1/2 cup hot water and 1/3 cup oatmeal. After the water and oatmeal have settled for two or three minutes, mix in 2 tablespoons plain yogurt, 2 tablespoons of honey, and one small egg white.

Apply a thin layer of the mask to your face, and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Then rinse with warm water.

Mayonnaise facial mask

“Well, that’s the weird one!” you might think. But think twice and give it a chance! Why to spend money on expensive creams when you can treat yourself with a soothing whole-egg mayonnaise mask? Gently spread the mayonnaise over your face and leave it on for about 20 minutes. Then wipe it off and rinse with cool water.

As you can imagine, this mask is the best for someone with a really dry skin! Believe us, your face will feel smooth and cleaner than ever! Don’t forget to add couple of CBD drops for a variety, if you’d like!

Lemon facial mask

Lemons contain AHAs and BHAs, two types of hydroxy acid that remove dead skin cells and help clear up blackheads, acne, and discoloration.

Create a homemade face mask by mixing the juice from one lemon with 1/4 cup olive oil or sweet almond oil, and 6-8 CBD Oil drops. Or mix the juice of 1/2 lemon with a tablespoon of honey. Apply to your face, wait 15 minutes, and rinse off with warm water.

Egg facial mask

For a little pampering, head to the refrigerator and grab an egg. If you have dry skin that needs moisturizing, separate the egg and beat the yolk. Oily skin takes the egg white, to which a bit of lemon or honey can be added.

For normal skin, use the entire egg! Apply the mixed egg, relax and wait 30 minutes, then rinse.

Avocado facial mask

The benefits of topical application and consumption of green and yellow vegetables and fruits have been established by now. Avocado is rich in antioxidants like B-carotene, lecithin, and linoleic acid that nourish dehydrated, flaky, and chapped skin. Avocado is enriched with vitamin A, fatty acids, and antioxidants that make your skin soft and smooth and repair the damage caused by free radicals and pollution.  Honey is known for imparting a natural glow to your skin and reducing the effect of dark spots, scars, and pigmentation. So, while one ingredient smoothens your skin, the other brightens it and adds radiance.

Scoop out the avocado into a bowl, mash it into a smooth paste and add 2 tablespoons of honey to this paste; add 5-6 drops of CBD Oil to give it even more smooth, lighter texture and a better result for your skin. Then mix it all very well.

Apply this mixture to your face and leave it on for 20 minutes or until it dries up completely. Rinse your face with cold water and pat it dry with a towel.

Honey facial mask

Honey makes one of the best DIY face masks to combat acne because it’s a natural hydroscopic, which means it helps draw moisture out from the environments where bacteria can accumulate. It can also help tighten your pores and keep them clean!

For this homemade face mask, start with:

2/3 cup of instant oats and heat them in 1/2 cup of hot water for about five minutes until the mixture thickens.

While you're waiting, toss half a cored apple into a blender with 2 tablespoons of yoghurt, 2 tablespoons of honey, and one egg white. Blend it for 45 seconds, then add the heated oatmeal mixture. Blend it for another 20 seconds. Apply the mixture to your face and let it sit for 15 minutes for maximum nourishment.

Here it is! All the easiest yet organic and extremely healthy recipes to make at home. Please do choose any of the most ‘delicious’ sounding like and try it at home! Remember, every recipe can be slightly varied, - don’t be afraid to use your imagination and improvise, if needed!
